Mauston Star, 19 April 1888 Page 1
The recent flood at Necedah was the greatest event ever known at that place. The east end of the village, from railroad crossing Paulson's residence, was submerged, and boats instead of buggies were used to keep up necessary communication between the east and west side. Several families forced to move from their residences on the east side to the west side, while others were compelled to vacate the ground floor and reside for a time in the up-stairs portion of their houses.
From the same column and issue of the Mauston Star:
Parties wishing to pump out their cellars can secure the loan of a first
class pump made expressly for that purpose, of J. L. Marvin.
