Jail Museum
The Museum was originally built in 1876
as the Sheriff's Office, residence and county jail.
- The central first floor room displays articles of our heritage
- A letter written by George Washington

- Precious photographs from yesteryear, taken all over the county
- "Custer's Last Stand", a wood carving created by two Kewaunee craftsman
- Beautiful life-size statues, carved of basswood, depicting Father Marquette landing
at Kewaunee in 1674
- USS Pueblo, built in Kewaunee by the
Kewaunee Engineering Corp., and launched April 16, 1944
- Gifts from a member of a pioneer Kewaunee family
- Tours of the Original jail cells made of riveted flat iron
Open daily, Memorial Day weekend to Labor Day, 12 Noon - 4:30pm
Open other times by appointment. Group tours available.
The Jail Museum is located adjacent to the Kewaunee County Courthouse
Maintained and staffed by the Kewaunee County Historical Society
The Kewaunee County Sheriff's House and Jail is on the national register of historic
places. It was added to the list in 1996
