Hello!
If you wish to send suggestions and comments, go ahead and pass them along! I might not always respond, but please know that I appreciate them.
HOWEVER... if you have a question about Kewaunee County or a family that you want answered, and you don't want to write to the mailing list or post to the query board, then send me the question, but keep in mind that I WILL forward it to the list and you may get multiple responses (or you may get no response), and those responses may sometimes contradict one another! I just don't have the time (or the resources) to answer everyone's question promptly. In the past I have forwarded queries to my contact at the Kewaunee County Historical Society, but I've received notice that I am to no longer do that. I was given the name and address of a 'for fee' researcher if anyone is interested.
If you expect a response PLEASE make sure you include your CORRECT email address! If you sent me an email and never got a message back from it, it might be because the mail bounced when I tried to answer!!
Also, please don't send me mail saying "can you send me more info on _____??" because if it's something that I have in an electronic format, it's on the site. Another note to that is that I do not do personal research. This website is a hobby, and I research and write up info on new topics when I can.
Although my home state is Wisconsin. I do not live in Kewaunee County. I don't have answers to questions like "what's a good hotel or restaurant in Kewaunee County?"
This web site contains genealogy and historical information for Kewaunee County. Very rarely will I include current events, and then only if it's genealogy related!
If you are a teacher or a student looking for information about Kewaunee County, all I can suggest is contacting the Chamber of Commerce or the Historical Society. Both of their addresses are on the Historical Societies page.
Volunteerism is wonderful and I do accept information to include in this site. If you have pictures or reunion or link info please send it to me. If you have more detailed info about people or families please send it in a text (.txt) format to Sheri at:
necroscope52@hotmail.com (note hotmail cannot accept files greater than 1MB, so split it up if necessary)
Please keep in mind that we have to follow copyrights, so as a guideline, I can't put up anything from newspapers or books that were published within the past 75 years.
As a personal preference, I do not like to put up personal information about people that might still be alive even if the information is public record. Although sometimes things will slip by me in some of the large databases that people send me. As a general rule of thumb, no birth information past 1910 and no marriage information past 1930. Death information is all fair game.
Please note, that although I have been receiving more information lately from the Kewaunee County Historical Society, I neither work for them, nor do I belong to the society. I can not answer any questions related to their organization. As far as I know they don't have a web site of their own.
Thanks for your understanding and cooperation!
Melissa
