My great-grandfather Fredrick TROGSTAD and his wife Emma retired to LaCrosse before the 1920 Census, and probably around 1915. He was born around 1854 in Norway, his wife in 1868 in Wisconsin. He lived in s.e. MN (Harmony) for almost 30 years, they married there about 1892. Before 1900 they moved to n.e. Illinois (Warren), stayed there 15-20 years.
1) Anyone with a connection? 2) What resources are available to help me flush out more details on life in LaCrosse?

My gggrandfather is Capt Samuel A HARRISON, 14th Wis Inf. Killed in action Corinth, MS Oct 1862. He is buried in Depere, WS Riverside Cem.
A Lt Col Samuel A Harrison of LaCrosse, WS was the commanding officer of the 58th Regiment Colored Infantry MS.The LaCrosse Samuel Harrison survived the War and was a member of the GAR (Grand Army of the Republic). A Civil War organization similar to the present day American Legion, AmVets, VFW groups.
Sometime after the death of the majority of the Civil War Veteran, the GAR placed gravestone monument at the grave sites of some of their veterans.
The PROBLEM? The Lacrosse Lt. Col Samuel A Harrison's gravestone is located on the DePere Capt Samuel A Harrison's grave.
MY QUESTION? Is Lt. Col Samuel A Harrison buried in the LaCrosse area? Is there a gravestone labeled Capt Samuel A Harrison 14th Wis Inf. located at a cemetery in the LaCrosse area? If so, a swap should be made. Is there anyone interested in aiding in the solution to this problem?
Thank you in advance, Joyce Dille 63 University Dr., Fond du Lac, WS 54935 (920-921-4414)

I am researching the GRAMS family. They settled in Mormon Coulee, La Crosse Co. in about 1856. The father August (in) (ine) GRAMS died shortly thereafter and the family moved to Vernon County after the widow
Eleanor(e) (a) married Frantz HEINRICH. The children's names were August, Franz (Frank), Wenzel, Johann (John), and Marie or Anna. Anna married Michael FUNK. Has anyone else run across these people? I would be thrilled to share information.
My ancestors GRAMS came from the village of TESCHEN, Bohemia (now called Decin, Czech.) in 1856 and settled in Mormon Coulee, La Crosse Co., WI. Did anyone else have people come from this village? I am wondering how my GRAMS came to choose this area.
