The Lakeland Area Genealogical Society (LAGS) is a group of local genealogists who have varying interests and degrees of experience in researching their family histories. We meet once a month for a brief business meeting, an educational program, to share and to help each other.

LAGS membership year extends from April 1 through March 31. Dues are $15.00 for an individual or families living in the same household. An email version of the newsletter is sent to all members.

Monthly meetings are normally held in the “Susan & Roger Smith Meeting Room” of the Minocqua Public Library, located at 415 Menominee St. in Minocqua, WI 54548.

Meetings are held the 2nd Tuesday of every month, except for July, when we have our annual picnic; and December when we have a dinner meeting at a restaurant. The starting time for all the regular meetings is 2:00 PM. Times and place for the July picnic and Dec party will be announced prior to the event. Guests are always welcome.

The club has published "The Lakeland Area Cemetery Tombstone Inventory"; "Birth, Marriage & Death Indexes for The Times & Minocqua Times 1891-1926; and the "Birth, Marriage, Death and Miscellaneous Indexes for the Lakeland Times 1927-1949". Currently the club is working on indexing the next decade of the newspaper.
