The ALLERTON family genealogy is traced from Mr. Isaac ALLERTON,
a fifth signer of the Pilgrim's Compact when they came to America, 20 December
1620. Oliver Hazard Perry ALLERTON, father of Jasper W. ALLERTON,
was a pioneer Antigo [Langlade County, Wisconsin] merchant who came here
in 1887. Oliver Hazard Perry ALLERTON died at Manitowoc [Manitowoc
County, Wisconsin], 31 December 1899, and his remains rest there.
Jasper W. ALLERTON was born in Waupaca County [Wisconsin] 30 April
1857. At an early age he moved with his parents to Aztalan, Jefferson
County [Wisconsin]; attended the common schools; and at the age of nineteen
moved to Eureka [Winnebago County], Wisconsin.
On 26 November 1881 Jasper W. ALLERTON married Annah NICHOLSON, of
Eureka [Wisconsin]. Jasper W. ALLERTON was the father of six children.
One, Volney, died in infancy. The other children are Willis; Harry,
who served in the U. S. Army during the [first] World War; Floy [Floyd?],
Ruth, and Doris. Ten years after marriage [1891?] Jasper W. ALLERTON
moved to Antigo [Langlade County, Wisconsin], where he engaged in contracting
and building until his death, on 07 January 1913; his remains were interred
at Eureka [Winnebago County], Wisconsin, 09 January 1913.
Jasper W. ALLERTON was a member of the Modern Woodmen of America,
Independent Order of Odd Fellows, Rebekahs, and held various public offices,
including Alderman, representing the Second Ward of Antigo. |
