John H. BURNET was born in the city of Manitowoc [Manitowoc County],
Wisconsin, 03 March 1863, son of Gilbert W. and Esther Sibree BURNET.
[Submitter has not assumed that "Sibree" is a maiden name. There
is a John "N." BURNET listed in the pre-1907 Birth Index for Wisconsin,
born 26 April 1903 in Langlade County, Wisconsin, and ---- BURNET, born
23 June 1895.] His boyhood days were spent in the city of Manitowoc,
where he attended the public schools, graduating from Manitowoc High School.
In [one line missing from photocopy] and Anne served [during World
War I] as a government nurse at Camp McClellan [Calhoun County], Alabama.
[Camp McClellan was established 18 July 1917, and was renamed Fort McClellan
01 July 1929.] John Jr. was not old enough to enter the war.
Mr. and Mrs. BURNET moved to Antigo [Langlade County, Wisconsin] in March
1888, and make their residence at 303 Superior Street. Mr. BURNET
is a member of the Masonic lodge. Gilbert and John BURNET are now
engaged in horticulture and bee raising at Prineville [Crook County], Oregon.
[Note the apparent implication that the apiarist Gilbert is John's
father. The author does not directly state that this Gilbert is the
father; this Gilbert may be a brother or other relative.] |
