Lumbering furnished to Langlade County many of its potential and
industrious citizens, and opened up a wide avenue of commerce in a day
when agriculture and other industries were in their infancy. In 1885
Joseph CRUMMEY moved to Antigo, Langlade County [Wisconsin], it being then
a small village, and spent the greater part of his career here as a lumberman,
or he followed railroading.
Mr. [Joseph] CRUMMEY was united in marriage on 11 September 1876
to Miss Jennie CUSICK, daughter of Phillip and Serina CUSICK, of Oshkosh
[Winnebago County], Wisconsin. To this union [of Joseph and Jennie
(CUSICK) CRUMMEY], nine children were born, two of whom, James and Mary,
are deceased. Those living are William, Serina, Jennie, Katherine,
Joseph, George, and Agnes, of Antigo Wisconsin. The CRUMMEY residence
is at 1145 Sixth Avenue.
Joseph CRUMMEY, Jr. was married to Clara CHESLAK on 02 May 1916.
Mrs. CRUMMEY [Clara] passed away on 24 July 1922, and is buried in the
Antigo Catholic cemetery. The CRUMMEY family attends St. John's Catholic
Church of Antigo. The subject of this sketch has led a life unmarked
by exciting events, yet a straight-forward career has gained for him the
high regard of all with whom he has come in contact. |
