Harold S. MATTMILLER, Upham Township [Langlade County, Wisconsin]
farmer, was born in Chicago [Cook County], Illinois, 04 December 1891,
the son of August and Mary MATTMILLER. He attended the public schools
of Chicago after which he secured employment with an electrical appliance
concern for one year. He then became a bank clerk for four years,
and two years later went to work as an employee of the International Harvester
Company in their Chicago tractor plant. Mr. [Harold S.] MATTMILLER
moved to Langlade County in July 1912. Two years later, in 1914,
he purchased eighty acres of land in Upham Township in Section 30, where
he has since resided. He has twelve acres cleared and is improving
the farm steadily.
Mr. [Harold S.] MATTMILLER was married 23 October 1919 to Theresa
VAUGHN, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Orvis VAUGHN, pioneers of Langlade County.
One child, Ruth Lorraine, was born to the union of Harold S. and Theresa
(VAUGHN) MATTMILLER. Mr. [Harold S.] MATTMILLER was Town Clerk of
Upham Township in 1919-1921. The MATTMILLER family attend the Congregational
church. Mr. MATTMILLER's parents [August and Mary MATTMILLER] are
now living in Milwaukee [Milwaukee County], Wisconsin, at 875 1/2 Thirty-eighth
Street. |
