Oscar J. SWANSON, auditor and credit manager, was born in St. Paul,
Minnesota, the son of John and Lena M. SWANSON. Coming to Antigo
[Langlade County], Wisconsin, at an early age, he [Oscar J. SWANSON] attended
the public schools and the Antigo High School. After attending high
school two years he entered the employ of the Fidelity Savings Bank at
Antigo. He then entered Marquette University [Milwaukee, Milwaukee
County, Wisconsin] where he completed his high school course and in 1915
graduated from the commerce and accounting department of that institution.
He then purchased the business of the Forest County [Wisconsin] Abstract
Company and the Insurance Agencies of the Bank of Crandon [Forest County,
Wisconsin] in 1915. In 1918 when war was on with Germany, he [Oscar
J. SWANSON] enlisted. Returning to Antigo after the war [World War
I ended on 11 November 1918] he entered the First National Bank as Assistant
Cashier, which position he held until he resigned 01 January 1921, to accept
a position as chief auditor and credit manager of the Charles W. Fish Lumber
Company, Elcho [Langlade County], Wisconsin.
On 18 June 1919 Mr. [Oscar J.] SWANSON was married to Cecelia GOEBEL,
daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Edward GOEBEL, Antigo [Langlade County], Wisconsin.
Mr. and Mrs. SWANSON [Oscar J. and Cecelia (GOEBEL) SWANSON] reside in
Elcho [Langlade County], Wisconsin. He is a member of the Masonic
lodge, Benevolent Protective Order of Elks, and Modern Woodmen of America. |
