Cemetery Restorations - Gravestone Cleaning Kit

Ralph Hendersin strongly recommends that volunteers deciding to undertake some of this work make a gravestone cleaning kit.

Here is what Ralph recommends:

--Orvus compound (mix ¼ cup or 4 tablespoons per gallon water)

--Gallon milk jug (for mixing Orvus solution)

--Spray bottle (for spraying Orvus solution, this one previously held carpet spot cleaner)

--Brush (for scrubbing stone, stiff nylon or poly bristles)

--Sprinkling can (for flushing off the Orvus solution)

--Wood scrapers, various widths (for scraping off stubborn growths, sharpened with sand paper)

--Sanding block (for sharpening wood scrapers)

--Water (lots of it for flushing off the Orvus solution)
