Mr. and Mrs. Yakel Sr. with their 13 children. The five sons were: Robert Jr., Leonard (Sam), William, Fred and Milton (Ike). The eight daughters were : Julia Perlick, Meta Zuehlke, Ella Wescott. Lydia Croft, Freda Schmitt, Lillian Hall, Helen Mathison and Louise Skarbon.
Mr.  &  Mrs.  Robert Yakel Sr.  on  their 50th  Wedding Anniversary.
Robert Ferdinand Yakel Sr. was born in Belle Plaine, Wisconsin on June !!, 1863- He came to the town of How at the age of 14 with his family who homesteaded on the present Arnold Bubolz farm. In 1884, he married Louisa Weinholdt and the couple lived on the homestead until 1908, when they moved into Suring. Mr. Yakel was employed for a number of years on the railroad section and was assessor of the Village of Suring. He was a well known pioneer and enjoyed fishing and hunting. He died Julys, 1943.
