St Peter Catholic Church - city of Oconto, replaced the above structure built in 1857. It was later merged with other city Catholic parishes. It recently closed but still stands. It's fate is unknown. The building and property have reverted to heirs of the original land donor since it was no longer used for religious purposes..	Methodist Episcobal Church - Suring built in the late 1800's. The building still stands but services are held in a more recent structure. Click the button for the church history page. It remains active today. This building replaced the log church that was built in 1884. Click the button for the church history page.
Original frame St. Peter's Catholic Church - Frenchtown (city of Oconto) Congregation organized in 1852. Built 1857, Photo c:1860. This was the first Catholic parish in Oconto County. Emmanuel Lutheran Church Breed contributed by Bill Fonferek First Presbyterian - city of Oconto	St John's Catholic Church -Gillett A Catholic Mission, served by priests from Keshena and Stiles, was organized in Gillett in 1872 or 1873. Services were held in the homes of Catholic families about twice a month, when the men of the congregation would drive to Stiles or Keshena to pick up a priest. In 1887 the first Catholic Church was built on Main Street. In 1907 the church was moved to its present location on South Garden Avenue and a rectory was built for resident priests. The church building has been remodeled several tines since being moved.	Originally named "Swedish Evangelical Lutheran " and the "Scandinavian Lutheran" Chruches, it is combined presently as Tabor Lutheran Church -Mountain. The original structure was built in the early 1890's in the town's original location at the top of the rocky "mountain" outcroping and was the public school. The town "slid" downhill to it's present location after 1897 when the railroad chose that route. Click the button for the church history page.
First Methodist Church - city of Oconto.	Trinity Lutheran Church - Maple Valley, was built in 1887. The first congregation was made up of Norwegian and Swedish families and was called the Scandinavian Evangelical Lutheran Church. This building served the congregation until 1935. St. Mark's Episcobal Church - city of Oconto. Evangelical Immanuel Lutheran Church - city of Oconto, was originally of German formation.	St. Michael's Catholic Church - Suring, had an initial congregation of German and French families. Building began in 1912. The building is still in use. Click the button for the church history page.	Emmanuel Evangelical United Brethren of Morgan - Wisconsin. This building, originally built in 1885 as the District No. 1 Morgan schoolhouse, was sold to the church congregation in 1904 for $500. It replaced a log church. Click the button for the church history page.	St John Lutheran Church Little Suamico. The original church structure in this picture was build in 1885. Christ Lutheran Church - Built in 1909 this building replaced the log church built in 1898. Organized as Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church in 1892. Click the button for the church history page. St John Lutheran Church - Wilhelmswald - town of Oconto Falls 2004 contributed by:Richard LaBrosse This church building first shows up on the 1905 county plat map west of Oconto Falls upstream along the Oconto River. The area around the church was locally known as "Wilhelmswald" in the early to mid 1900's.Founding memberswere of German origin, having first migrated in the 1700's to Poland and to the US in the early 1900's. The village of Wilhelmswald in Europe is now named Norowo. The building had undergone changes in the years since it's constuction. The cemetery is beside the church. Second Presbyterian Church in city of Oconto was at Main and Ellis Ave. It was destroyed by fire in 1890 when nearby Fire Station #1 went ablaze. Evangelical United Brethern Church - Hayes was built in 1885. The photo was taken in 1888. This building no longer stands. Click the button for the church history page. St. Joseph Catholic Church A church was erected at Little Ocontoor South Branch in 1875 by the Indians and some skilled white carpenters. After a few years this church was inadequate and in 1891 a second, larger church was built. The congregation was Native American families and 18 white families from How and Breed townships in Oconto County. Cathe Ziereis	Immanuel Lutheran Church - Gillett Built in 1885, this log church was the first for the congregation. It was later replaced and used as the church school. Click the button for the church history page. Cathe Ziereis	The first Christian Science Church ever built in the world, was in the city of Oconto, WI, in 1886. Before there was even a motherhouse in Boston, the birthplace of the group,, Oconto had this church. Click the button for the church history page.	Old St. John's Lutheran Church - Gillett As early as 1886, Lutheran Missionaries occasionally came to Gillett on horseback over Indian trails, and preached in the village schoolhouse. In 1892 the first Lutheran Church, a frame building was constructed on the corner of Main and McKenzie.

Methodist - Episcobal Church (UNITED METHODIST CHURCH) Gillett The first Methodist preaching in Gillett occurred in the summer of 1867. The present church was built in 1906 and replaced the first church building begun in 1871, on the corner of Birch and Main.	CHRISTUS LUTHERAN CHURCH Pensaukee Oconto County, Wisconsin Christus Lutheran Church in Pensaukee, Wisconsin, was one of two in the village. It is now a private home. The church records are from 1877 to 1928. I have a complete copy of these church records if someone would need info from them. Mary Carl The records for this church are now housed at First American Lutheran Church, Oconto, WI.
