![]() St Peter Catholic Church - city of Oconto, replaced the above structure built in 1857. It was later merged with other city Catholic parishes. It recently closed but still stands. It's fate is unknown. The building and property have reverted to heirs of the original land donor since it was no longer used for religious purposes.. |

![]() Originally named "Swedish Evangelical Lutheran " and the "Scandinavian Lutheran" Chruches, it is combined presently as Tabor Lutheran Church -Mountain. The original structure was built in the early 1890's in the town's original location at the top of the rocky "mountain" outcroping and was the public school. The town "slid" downhill to it's present location after 1897 when the railroad chose that route. |

Click the button for the church history page. ![]() St John Lutheran Church - Wilhelmswald - town of Oconto Falls 2004 contributed by:Richard LaBrosse This church building first shows up on the 1905 county plat map west of Oconto Falls upstream along the Oconto River. The area around the church was locally known as "Wilhelmswald" in the early to mid 1900's.Founding memberswere of German origin, having first migrated in the 1700's to Poland and to the US in the early 1900's. The village of Wilhelmswald in Europe is now named Norowo. The building had undergone changes in the years since it's constuction. The cemetery is beside the church. |

After a few years this church was inadequate and in 1891 a second, larger church was built. Pensaukee Oconto County, Wisconsin Christus Lutheran Church in Pensaukee, Wisconsin, was one of two in the village. It is now a private home. The church records are from 1877 to 1928. I have a complete copy of these church records if someone would need info from them. Mary Carl The records for this church are now housed at First American Lutheran Church, Oconto, WI.
