. BAKEMAN.

.Final rites for A. J. Bakeman, a pioneer resident of Marinette county, who had resided in this city more than 40 years, will be conducted from the residence, 852 Marinette avenue, Thursday afternoon at 2:20. The Rev. L. C. Smith of Pioneer Prsbyterian church will officiate and burial will be made in Forest Home cemetery.

.(note: Amazingly,  Mr. A. J. Bakeman was 8 years old when he and his parents, Henry and Mary Bakeman, brothers John, Henry, August, Martin and baby sister Emily survived the Great Peshtigo Fire of October 8, 1871 on their homestead in town of Peshtigo by taking refuge in the pit water well on the farm and covering themselves with wet blankets as the fire roared over them. His grandfather Crist Bakeman, also a fire survivor at another homestead, and his father Henry were born in Mechlinburg (also Mecklenberg), now part of Germany, His mother Mary was born in Darmstadt, now also a part of Germany.
