Adolph "Cookie" (AJ) Block, 89, Gillett, died peacefully Friday morning, April 12, 2013 at Sharpe Care in Oconto Falls. He was born February 3, 1924 in the Town of Underhill to Julius and Julia Block.

On August 21, 1948 he married Naomi Peterson. Cookie lived in the Gillett area for all his life where he once worked for Ansorges Grocery and Feed Mill and was an independent cattle dealer. He was a member of Faith United Lutheran Church where he served as an elder and usher.

Survivors are his wife, Naomi Block; their four daughters, Karen (Tom) Carlson; Marilyn "Sue" (Walt) Thompson; Gayle (Scott) Pratt; Corrine (James) Young; eight grandchildren, Steve (Emily) Pratt, Nathan (Katie) Carlson, Nick Pratt, Brooke (Jordan) Schroeder, Erika and Jessica Thompson, Alex and Sydney Young; five great grandchildren; one sister, Dorothy (Gerald) Rapp, his coffee buddy, Loren Schwartz.

He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers, William, Oscar and Melvin Block and one sister, Anna Knaack.

Visitation will be held at Faith United Lutheran Church, 11465 Old U Rd., Gillett, WI after 9am Tuesday, April 16, 2013 until the time of service. Funeral services will be held 11am Tuesday at the church with the Rev. John Laatsch officiating. Burial will follow in Wanderers Rest Cemetery, Gillett. Jones Funeral Service in Oconto Falls is serving the Block family.

In lieu of other expressions of sympathy, a memorial fund will be established at Faith United Lutheran Church.

The Block family would also like to thank Dr. Genadi Maltinski and Sharpe Care for their devoted and compassionate care they gave Cookie. They also would like to thank Pastor John Laatsch for his continual spiritual support.
