Darlene (Barribeau) Melland 86, Oconto passed away peacefully at home after a lifetime of illnesses. She was born on March 20, 1927 in Oconto to the late Wilfred "Pip" and Rose "Mim" (Lemirande) Barribeau Sr. Darlene met her husband John while he was working for Acme Tree Surgery. She worked at the old Egg Plant in Oconto before she was married.

On August 28, 1948 Darlene married John Melland at St. Peters Catholic Church, Oconto. After all of her children were in school she started working at Racine Glove Co., Oconto until it closed in 1981. She also taught religion classes at St. Peters for seven years.
Darlene and John loved to travel to all different parts of the U.S. with her sisters her brother and vacations every year with their children.

Survivors include four children Deborah (Melland-Anderson) Coniff, Oconto; Renee (Melland-Belongia) Berg and friend Mark, Oconto; Jeffrey (Dawn) Melland, Oconto; Tami (Melland) Shields, Marinette; eight grandchildren Chad (Jessy) Anderson, Ryan (Jen) Anderson, Heather (Eric) Ferris, Brandi (Micah) VandenBranden, Nikki Belongia and friend Shae, SPC Christopher Melland stationed in Washington State and fiancee Becca Martinez, Travis Melland, Kendra Shields; eleven great-grandchildren Tyler, Riley, Kyle and Kody Ferris; Parker and Alexis Anderson; Garrett and Riley Anderson; Logan and Kylee Neta; and Brooklynn VandenBranden. She is further survived by one sister Marlene (Ralph) Hall Jr., Green Bay; one sister-in-law Donna Barribeau, Oconto, both being special to her. A special niece Judi (Bob) Kelsey, Green Bay; Goddaughters Cherie Cichanofsky, Green Bay and Kris (Dennis) Polsen, Naperville, IL. Dar had an extended family with Jim Coniff's children Lorie, Cathy, Tracy and Chris with nine grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

She was preceded in death by one son-in-law Jim Coniff; one brother Wilfred "Curly" Barribeau Jr.; three sisters June (Cyr) Zanders, Sally (Alvin) Rudolph and Laverne (Ray) Cyr.

Friends may call at Holy Trinity Catholic Church, Oconto from 9:30-11 AM Friday. Mass of Christian Burial 11 AM Friday April 26, 2013 at the Church with Father Joel Sember officiating. Interment will be at Oconto Catholic Cemetery, Oconto. Rhodes-Charapata Funeral Home, Oconto is assisting the family. Please visit to express online condolences.
