Friends called on Good Friday, April 2 from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. at Kuehl Funeral Home, Gillett, for Dale G. Johnson, 71, of Gillett.

Visitation continued at Faith United Evangelical Lutheran Church, Gillett on Saturday, April 3 from 10 a.m. until time of funeral services at 11 a.m. Rev. John Laatsch officiated and interment was in St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Cemetery, Town of Gillett. Military honors were conducted by the Gillett American Legion and VFW. He died Wednesday afternoon, March 31, after a long illness.

Born Dec. 11, 1938 in the Town of Gillett to Gustave and Agnes (Frederick) Johnson, he graduated from Gillett High School in 1957. Following graduation he served in the United States Coast Guard and was stationed in Kewaunee.

He drove semi for many years. He enjoyed building and in 1970 built the home that his children grew up in. He also enjoyed riding motorcycle, camping, fishing and fixing things.

His wife of 26 years, Annie survives, along with five children, Holly Johnson of Pahrump, Nev., Robert (Lisa) of Greenleaf, Mrs. Jared (Robin) Banaszynski of Gillett, Ray (Tracy) of Oconto and Rhonda (fiancé, Ben Schultz) Johnson of Appleton; five grandchildren; a brother, Allen (Janice) of Howard; two nieces; one great-niece; two great-nephews; a brother-in-law, Harold McDonald of Carrollton, Miss., and aunts, uncles and cousins. He is also survived by a friend and mother of his children, Ruth Johnson of Gillett.

He was preceded in death by his parents; an infant brother; three infant sons and aunts and uncles.
