Goldie Gerdes, 77, Oconto, died Saturday morning, February 9, 2013 at Oconto Hospital, exactly one week after the funeral of her only beloved brother, Richard. She was born May 18, 1935 in Oconto Falls to Robert and Gertrude (Carriveau) Gerdes. Goldie grew up on the family farm in Stiles and attended Lena public schools, graduating from Lena High School with the class of 1955. Following graduation, she helped her brother Richard operate the family farm until 1985. Goldie also worked in different area restaurants over the years. She was a member of Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Oconto.

Goldie never focused on her disabilities, only her love of life. Although it is difficult to lose Goldie within a week of burying her brother we are comforted with the knowledge that she is with Richard, who was the center of her world. The family would like to extend their appreciation to the businesses and all those who were so good to Goldie whom she considered her friends.

Survivors are one sister-in-law, Joyce Gerdes, Oconto; one nephew, Gilberto (Christina) Guidi, Italy; two great nephews, Giovanni and Ricardo Guidi; first cousin, Gloria Warnecke and many extended family members.

She was preceded in death by her parents and only brother Richard on January 17, 2013.

Visitation will be held after 12pm Friday, February 15, 2013 at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Oconto until the time of service. Mass of Christian Burial will be held 2pm Friday at the church with the Rev. Fr. Joel Sember officiating. Burial will follow in St. Anthony Catholic Cemetery, Oconto Falls.
