Harry G. Marquardt, 83, of Shawano, passed away Tuesday, May 25, 2010, in Shawano. Born December 26, 1926, in Lena, son of the late Arthur and Wilhelmina (Behnke) Marquardt.

Harry enlisted with the United States Navy and served during World War II. On June 21, 1956, he married Ruth Jasch in Marinette. Harry worked as a letter carrier for the USPS, retiring in 1986.

Harry is survived by his wife of 53 years, Ruth; four children: Lynn (Ted) Steiner of Stillwater, Minn., Keith (Brenda) Marquardt of Shawano, Paul (Amy) Marquardt of Menomonee Falls, and Darci (Andy) Van Sickle of Pulaski; nine grandchildren and nine siblings: Mildred “Millie” (Rollie) De Rosier of Pembine, Marvin (Charmaine) Marquardt of Pembine, Roger (Sharon) Marquardt of Wausaukee, Jerry (Pat) Marquardt of Pembine, Russell (Darlene) Marquardt of Pembine, Jim (Marie) Marquardt of Portland, Ore., Marshall Marquardt of Marinette, Thomas (Helen) Marquardt of Peshtigo and Joan (Roger) Cudnohufsky of Dunbar.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, May 28, 2010, at the ZION LUTHERAN CHURCH in Shawano with the Rev. Peter L. Sherven officiating. Family and friends may call at the SWEDBERG FUNERAL HOME in Shawano on Thursday from 4 to 8 p.m. and at the church on Friday after 9 a.m. until the time of the service.

Burial will be in the Woodlawn Cemetery in Shawano with Military Rites conducted by the Shawano American Legion Post #117.
