Died at 105
LENA—John Mayernik, 105, 8735 Cty. Trk. A West, Lena, died Tuesday morning July 1 at the home of his son, Albert. He was born June 24, 1881 in Czechoslovakia. On January 17, 1906 he married the former Anna Vrable in Czechoslovakia.
Mr. Mayernik came to the United States in 1906, and resided in West Virginia, Pennsylvania and Illinois where he worked in the coal mines and farmed. The couple then moved to Missouri where they raised cotton. In 1930 they moved to the Town of Spruce where they operated a dairy farm.
He was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Spruce.
Survivors include four sons, Steve and Joe, both of Indiana; Paul, Appleton; Albert, Lena, one daughter Lydia and Patrick, Griffith, Ind., 25 grandchildren, 47 great grandchildren, seven great great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife in 1981, one son, three daughters.
Final rites were held Saturday, July 5 at the church with the Rev. Nicholas Johannes officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery.
Pallbearers were Albert G., John Robert and Steve Mayernik, David Patrick and Bernard Liptak.
