GROVER

Grover, Wis., Aug. 18 –Died- At the home of her parents in Grover, Saturday, Aug. 16, Josephine Raleigh Phalen, wife of William Phalen and eldest daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Richard (Caroline Vallierre) Raleigh. Mrs. Phalen had not been well for some time past, but was not considered dangerous and was intending to return to her own home Sunday. Her death was a terrible shock to the whole community and words fail to express the sympathy felt for the two bereaved families. The funeral will be held from the Catholic church in Peshtigo Tuesday morning, Aug. 19. McLain will have charge. (note: Mary Josephine Raleigh was married May 8, 1901. She was one of 3 Raleigh children including brother John and sister Francis Kathryn.  William and Mary Josephine had no children)

  DEATH OF MRS. PHALEN

Former Marinette Lady Passes Away at Her Home in Town of Grover

Mrs. Josephine Phalen, wife of Wm. Phalen, a farmer residing in the town of Grover, died Saturday night after a long illness with an abcess in the abdomen. She was formerly Miss Raleigh and resided in Marinette where she was well known and highly esteemed by all who knew her. The funeral will take place tomorrow morning from the Peshtigo Catholic Cemetery (Riverside Cemetery).
