Mrs. Johnson on Dec. 17th 1907.
Besides the husband there remain to mourn her loss a father and mother (Mr. and Mrs. John Hoyt)
, five brothers, John,
Isaac, Charles, lee and Lowell; two sisters, Kittie and Pearl. A host of friends will miss her here and look forward to the time
when they shall meet her there. The funeral was held from the M. E. church in Hickory, Thursday afternoon, the pastor
officiating.
"We watched her breathing through the night
Her breathing, soft and low,
As in her breast the wave of life
Kept heaving to and fro.
So silently we seemed to speak,
So softly moved about,
As we had lent her half our powers,
To eke her
living out.
Our weary hopes belied our fears,
Our fears our hopes belied;
We thought her dying when she slept,
And sleeping
when she died.
For when the morn came,
dim and sad,
A chill with early showers,
Her quiet eye lids closed;
she had another morn than ours."
