.Funeral Rites For Mr. Herman
Funeral services were held last Saturday for Herman GIESE, 86 a
resident of this vicinity for over 55 years, who died at his home last
Wednesday after a month's illness. The rites were conducted at 1:30 at
the farm home and at 2 O'clock at Emmanuel Evangelical Lutheran Church
with the Rev. E. A. Wians in charge and burial in the church cemetery.
Mr. GIESE was born in Germany, November 7, 1856, and came to this
country in 1881. After working in Milwaukee for a time, he came to the
town of Washington and stayed with relatives until 1885, when he
married Louise ZUEHLSDORF of Bonduel. He then bought the Gillett, route
2 farm where he had lived ever since. His wife died in 1903.
Survivors are four daughters, Mrs. Bertha HELMKE, Mrs. Albert
Mrs. Herman YAEGER, and Ella, all of Gillett; and four sons Robert and
Alfred, Gillett; Herman JR., town of Howe; and William, Milwaukee two
other children died in infancy. There are also two half-sisters, Mrs
Bertha GORGS and Mrs. Augusta KNOOP, and two half-brothers, Theodore
and August KOHLS, all in Germany; and 16 grandchildren and 10 great-
