Nancy King
Marinette Eagle-Star
20 September 1899
DEATH OF PIONEER
Mrs. Nancy King, wife of Frederick King of the town of
Grover, died sunday afternoon of general debility, due to her advanced
years. She was one of the early settlers of Marinette county, having come
from New York state with her husband in 1868 and settled on a homestead
in the southwestern part of Grover in 1869, where she resided until her
death on Sunday.
Mr. and Mrs. King narrowly escaped with their lives during the great
fire of 1871, in which they lost all their personal effects. Her husband
and four sons, all grown to manhood, survive her. She was in her 78th year.
The funeral was held from her late home this afternoon, Rev. E. Hasse conducting
the last sad rites.
