Leila Olson, 94, Oconto Falls, died early Wednesday morning, January 23,
2013 at Sharpe Care. She was born August 13, 1918 in Shawano to Robert and
Clara (Hartman) Mathews. Leila grew up in rural Cecil on the family farm
where she attended country school.

On November 22, 1944 she married Lester T. Olson at Bethel Lutheran Church
in the Town of Green Valley. Leila lived in Green Valley for most of her
life where along with her husband they owned and operated a dairy farm. At
one time, she was also employed at Gillett Plywood. Leila was a longtime
member of Bethel Lutheran Church where she served as janitor for 17 years.
She also was a 4-H leader in Shawano County for over 30 years. For the past
eight years Leila resided at Parkview Apartments in Oconto Falls where she
enjoyed living and participating in the weekly bingo games.

Survivors are one daughter, Carol (Mike) Marquardt, Oconto Falls; one son,
Roger (Joyce) Olson, Shawano; two granddaughters, Heidi Marquardt, Green
Bay; Carrie Marquardt, Oconto Falls; two great grandchildren, Caitrin and
Chloe; one sister, Jean (Herbert) Hessil, Green Bay; one sister-in-law,
Shirley Mathews, OR; many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Lester on February 3,
2002, one brother Gilbert Mathews, two infant sisters and one brother-in-law
and sister-in-law, Ray and Janet Koepsell.

Visitation will be held after 12pm Monday, February 4, 2013 at Bethel
Lutheran Church, N6955 Cty. Rd. BB, 4 miles south of Gillett, in the Town of
Green Valley until the time of service. Funeral services will be held 2pm
Monday at the church with Pastor William Gruenstern officiating. Burial will
follow in the church cemetery.

The Olson family would like to thank Dr. Gerald Bayer and his staff at Green
Bay Oncology, the Heartland Hospice team, especially Kimberlee and Tina, and
the entire staff of Sharpe Care for their exceptional care.
