.FROMME
dit MANAIGRE.

Here are the datas I have on Louis FROMME ancestry.
He was born in Sorel (Quebec). His parents were : Gottfried FROMME and Josephte MANEGRE dit AMEL, married c. 1786 in Sorel. The marriage was probably recorded by a non catholic priest, as no catholic record was found.
Gottfried (aka Louis) FROMME came to Quebec with the Brunswick troups, as part of the Riedesel regiment (Col. Pollnitz company). He was born c. 1755 in Foersten, Saxony. He died and was buried 24 July 1790 at Sorel (Christ Church).
His wife, Josephte MANEGRE dit AMEL was born 22 May 1767 at Berthier (co. Berthier) Quebec, the daughter of Joseph MANEGRE dit AMEL and Josephte ROBERT.
It's probable that Louis FROMME was born shortly after his father's discharge from the Brunswick troups (23 Aug. 1783) as I can't find any birth records for him.
He had three brothers :
1. Jean-Mederic FROMME bapt. 30 Aug. 1786 at Berthier
(Ste-Genevieve)
;
2. Nicolas-Eusebe FROMME bpt. 14 Aug. 1788 at Sorel
(St-Pierre),
bur. 23
Aug. 1788 id ;
3. Pierre FROMME bpt. 18 Aug. 1789 St-Cuthbert (Berthier co.)
Josephte MANEGRE remarried 11 March 1793 at Sorel (Christ Church) to Alexander MARX (aka MARK), a soldier for the Royal Artillery. Three children were born out of that union.

ADDITIONAL NOTES Regarding:
Louis FROMME dit MANAIGRE, m. c. 1818 to Angel CHAU-WUN_OR_CHI-WIN GRIGNON
ANGELL/CHAU-WUN_OR_CHI-WIN6 GRIGNON (PERRICHE/PIERRE/PIERRICHE5, PIERRE4, PIERRE3, PIERRE2, JACQUES1) was born 1803, and died 1835. She married LOUIS FROMME DIT MANAIGRE.
Notes for ANGELL/CHAU-WUN_OR_CHI-WIN GRIGNON:
Wisconsin Creoles, p. 228: Perriche (Pierre) Grignon's second
wife's
name was "CHAU-WAU-KAU". [In this segment she is referred to
as EE-CHAU-WAU-KAU.] A slightly different variation on the
Indian
name.
"[Robert & Alexander Grignon disputed this,
saying that
Angell was really the daughter of the Winnebago Indian, BIG
RAT.
Dominic
Brunette, Sr. disagreed and raised Angell with his family
after
Genevieve Grignon died in 1839.]
*********
Wisconsin Creoles, p. 308: NOTE: On this page under Louis
Fromme
dit Manaigre, it states he " married CHI WUN (died 1835),
daughter of Perriche Grignon and CHAU WAU CAU, and lived at
Portage."
And NOTE: on p. 228, "...they had a daughter Angell[CHI
WUN) (born 1830)." This date discrepancy
needs to be
resolved. CHI WUN/Angell began having children with Louis in
1819.
Her
mother, Genevieve Grignon Corbeille, died in 1839 and there is
no
birth date, yet, on her in the Rentmeester materials that I have
found. If she was born 1800 instead of 1830 she
would have
been 19 at the birth of her first child.
