spelled Lubas, Lubbas, Lubus
and Lubos in various records in
Oconto county.
There are still families
using the spelling of Lubas and
Lubus in
Brookside, Pensaukee and Oconto.
These records
were found among the church
records of Christi Lutheran church,
Pensaukee,
1877-1929. The records are
written in German script. The
last name spellings, below,
are as they appeared
in the church book. Depending
on minister writing the
record it is spelled
differently and some times harder to
read.
As an example, in
the church death record for
August Lubbas it is spelled Lubbas,
but the cemetery stone
reads Lubas,
as posted on Oconto web site. And on the August
Lubbas marriage record his
father’s name is
Carl Lubbas. I suspect they
are all the same person.
Who can connect this group up and answer the questions?
