Heinrich and Johan Wilhelm (Henry and William) Marks were the cousins of Michael's great
grandfather and they emigrated to Oconto County, Wisconsin, USA.

Heinrich Marks was born 1877 a Russian German in Kotarwice, now in central Poland. While living there Heinrick married Anna Wesner in 1900 and their first child, Wanda, was born 1901.
In 1902 Heinrich, Anna and daughter Wanda Marks came to North America, settling in the village of Oconto Falls, Oconto County, Wisconsin.. By 1910 Elda age 7 (Elda C. Kamke 15 Apr 1903 30 Jun 1996 Oconto Falls, Oconto, Wisconsin ), Henry Jr. age 5 (Marks, Henry L. 1905 1993 Oconto County, Wisconsin) , Lydia age 2 (Lydia V. Marks 14 Feb 1908 20 Mar 2004 Genoa City, Walworth, Wisconsin) and infant Otto (Otto A. Marks 20 Dec 1909 Jan 1993 Colorado Springs, El Paso, Colorado) were added to the family. Heinrich age 33 and known as Henry Marks, who had become a naturalized citizen in 1908, was working as a fireman in a papermill. The family lived on North Western Street. Anna, age 31, spoke German while Henry and Wanda also spoke English. Several neighboring families also were Russian Germans with surnames of Rex, Richter, Hun and Luebke. All these neighboring families had come to America between 1898 and 1903.
By 1920 Henry and Anna owned their own farm in the township of Oconto Falls. Wanda was no longer living with the family. Henry and Anna were listed as Dairy Farm owners in town of Oconto Falls in 1930. Living with them was married son Henry Jr. (Marks, Helen G. 1911-2005) , a 23 year old cheesemaker, and single daughter Lydia age 28.

Johann Wilhelm Marks, the brother of Henrich Marks, was born 1882, also in Kotarwice. He and wife Emma came to America in 1914 and settle in the city of Oconto Falls on Depot Street where in 1920 William Marks was working as a laborer in a paper mill. Wife Emma and oldest daughter, Martha age 9, had been born in Germany. In Wisconsin, Helen age 7, and sons Adolph age 5 (Adolph Marks 7 Nov 1914 -died Sep 1967 Minnesota ), Edward age 2 (Marks, Edward H. 1917-1991 Wisconsin) and Harold age 1 (Marks, Harold Rudolph Jan. 26, 1919 - Nov. 30, 1977 Wisconsin) were now part of the family. Daughter Irma was added to the family in 1930 and William continued to work in the paper mill.
