PORADEK - KUDRLE

Submitted by Merrily Tunnicliff

The author welcomes e-mail regarding the exchange of information on these families. Please click her name (above) for a direct e-mail link.

Mary Kudrle and Bartholomew Poradek, were married in Bohemia. We have the passport of her brother, Albert Kudrle, which tells us the Kudrle home was in:
town - Lipowic
district of - Prachatic
county of - Picek
kingdom of - Bohemia

The nearly shredded handwritten, 1871 marriage certificate, copy of which is attached, agrees that Lipowic was Mary's home and gives the name of her mother. The father's name is lost in the missing portion of the folds but since they emigrated to the U.S., we know some of them. It's the elusive Poradek family that I am most challenged by, possibly because family tradition tells little of them. I have attached a copy of the certificate, which we only recently had translated. What the translator interpreted was that:
Bartholomew was the "son of Matous Poracek a farmer in Hracholusky, district Stolice and ______ Prachatice and region Pisek in Bohemia______ and mother Marije born Hazukova".

Please see the marriage document in the image below:
