Grandma Mary Corwin's maiden name was Graves. Her father was Major Graves, who
married Abigail Tankton April 6, 1806. (Abigail Tankton was born in August the 24th,
1784). They moved to Elbridge, Ononadaga Co New York in 1808, where she died in Jan
9, 1832. Their children were, Nelson, Ruth, Mary, Horace, Major Mark and Hannah.
Grandpa (Phineas) Corwin's father was born in Long Island, New York. His people were
Irish. They came to Newburg, N.Y. where he lived for some time; he was married and
had four girls; Phoebe, Mehitable, Charlotte and Abigail. His wife died and Grandma
work there for awhile and then married him. Her name was Rebecca Dean. (Pure English)
She lived at Newburg and Grandpa (Phineas) Corwin was born there Nov 18, 1807. Then
they went to western New York and Grandpa died at our Grandpa(Phineas) house,
Then Grandma married again; this time the name was Reynolds; she was always called,
Corwin.
About 1848 they came West, first to Genesse Wis, then to Barton, Washington Co, Wi
and she died at Barton , Washington Co Wisconsin and is buried beside our Grandpa
(Phineas) and Mary Graves Corwin in the Riverside cemetary at Young America, Washington
Co Wisconsin.
Our Grandma Mary Corwin died at her home north of Saukville Ozaukee Co Wisconsin
December 4, 1882.
Our Grandpa (Phineas) Corwin died at the home of his daughter, Mrs. C.F. Taylor in
Barton, Washington Co Wisconsin, Jan 16, 1884.
Both grandparents are buried in the Riverside cemetery at Young America, Washington
Co, Wis.
