Observe 50 Years of Marriage

Mr. and Mrs. Henry Brabender of R. 1, Random Lake,
lifetime residents of the area, celebrated their golden wedding anniversary on Sunday,
Apr. 25, with a Mass of Thanksgiving, followed by a reception for relatives, friends
and neighbors.
Mr. Brabender, 74, was born in the town of Port Washington on Sept. 27, 1896, and
Mrs. Brabender, 67, nee Frances Slavik, was born in the town of Trenton, Washington
county, on Feb. 29, 1904. they were married by Rev. Father Zohlen at Holy Trinity
Church, Newburg, on Apr. 23, 1921. Only living attendant of their wedding 50 years
ago is Edward Slavik of Saukville.
They settled on a farm at Random Lake, where they have been living up to the present
time, and are now retired. They enjoy gardening, playing cards and dancing, and belong
to the Jolly Time club.
A Mass of Thanksgiving for the jubiliarians was celebrated at 9:30 a.m. Sunday at
St. Mary's Catholic church, Random Lake with the Rev. Joseph F. Schwinn as the celebrant.
Dinner for over 100 guests was served at 12:30 p.m. at the Belgium Community Center,
followed by a reception from 2-4 p.m.
The Brabenders have two daughters, Mrs. Kenneth (Hilda) Mondloch of Random Lake and
Mrs. Wilmer (Marcella) Feider of New Holstein; two sons, Alex Brabender of Mequon
and Vernon of Palmyra, Wis.; also 18 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
