Mrs. Lois Maechtle
Funeral services for Mrs. Lois Maechtle, 91, of Cedarburg,
former Port Washington resident, were held at 2 p.m. Saturday at the Methodist Church,
Cedarburg. The Rev. Alfred Hoad officiated at the last rites.
Interment was made at the Cedarburg Zur Ruhe Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers were
Claude Behling, Ellsworth Behling, Dale Behling, Everett Maechtle, Leo Zirbes and
Emery Voland.
Mrs. Maechtle, nee Sizer, was born Feb. 22, 1864, in the town of Saukville where
her childhood was spent. On Oct. 5, 1882, she was married at Saukville to Jacob Maechtle.
They lived in the town of Port Washington, city of Port Washington and then at Cedarburg.
She died of a stroke and old age on Sept. 8 at the home of a daughter, Mrs. Gerold
Carter, in Cedarburg.
Survivors are three daughters, Mrs. Otto (Nettie) Behling of Port Washington, Mrs.
Gerold (Josie) Carter of Cedarburg, Mrs. Emil (Eunice) Behling of Oconto Falls; one
son, Dewey Maechtle of Sheboygan; also eight grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren.
Her husband and four children preceded her in death. She was the last of the Sizer
family.
Mrs. Maechtle was a member of the Methodist Church, active in W.S.C.S. work and Sunday
school teaching until her health failed, the last member of the Cedarburg War Mothers,
and a past president of the Cedarburg Woman's Club.
