Mrs. Leona M. Ternes, 85, a former Town of Belgium resident, died Wednesday at St.
Mary's Hospital in Wausau. She lived with her daughter and son-in-law, Mr. and Mrs.
Al Schannen at Hatley (Marathon County).
Born on Sept. 6, 1884 in Everling, Luxemburg, she was a daughter of the late Valentine
and Margaret Walsh Husting.
She was married to Domonic Ternes on May 7, 1913 at Port Washington. He died in
1964.
The couple farmed in the Town of Belgium until 1957.
Mrs. Ternes was a member of the Apostolate of the Suffering.
Survivors include three sons, Myron of Belgium, Alfred of Sheboygan Falls and Norman
of Cascade; three daughters, Mrs. Alfred (Marie) Schannen, Mrs. Lawrence (Lucille)
Wellenstien of Belgium and Capt. Leone Ternes of Anchorage, Ala.; 10 grandchildren
and one brother, A. P. Husting, and one sister, Mrs. Clara Meyer, both of Port Washington.
Funeral services will be held Monday at 10:30 a.m. at St. Mary Catholic Church, Lake
Church, the Rev. Donald E. Rieff, interim pastor, celebrant of the requiem Mass.
Burial will be in the parish cemetery.
Friends may call at Jungers Funeral Home, Dacada, after 2 p.m. Sunday.
A parish vigil will be held at 8 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
