Of Interest for your consideration and enjoyment:
There is a poem of unknown origin located on the small stone at the ZETTEL Family Plot in front of the ZETTEL Family Stone (for Father Rudolph and Mother Mary Gertrude and Mary G.) in the Town of Sevastopol-St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery/Sec. 5A. which is difficult to read. PGS Member Ginny HAEN is a relative of the ZETTEL's and asked for Sue HOHNEKE's help in decifering the verse. The first part of the poem is worn but after much computer magnification and decifering, Sue HOHNEKE has filled in what is illegible on the stone and submits that the verse reads as follows:
*First: Written as a poem (author unknown):
"As (or now) thou art in silent slumber
Ever with thy grave alone
Thou no more will join our number
Then no more our sorrows show
Yet again we hope to meet thee
When this mortal life has fled
Then in heaven, with joy to greet thee
Where no far(e)well tears are shed."
*Second: Written here as the words read on the stone (author unknown):
"As (Now) thou art in silent
slumber Ever with
thy grave alone
Thou no more will join
our number Then no
more our sorrows
show. Yet again we
hope to meet thee
when this mortal life
has fled; Then in
heaven, with joy to gre-
et the(e), where no fa
(r)well tears are shed."
