LOCATION: Tract in Government lot 2, Section 7, Town of Gibraltar. About 1/2 mile West of Highway 42 on Peninsula Players Road until Orchard Road or first gravel road, then North on Orchard Road. The cemetery is on the West side of the road. It is maintained in good condition.
Copied in 1970 by Mr. & Mrs. William HURST and recopied 31 Jul 1977 by Eileen SLABY and typed by Sally TREICHEL all of the WSOCS.

MAPES, Jacksonport, passed away at a Sturgeon Bay hospital Saturday evening after Mr. Mapes suffered a fractured hip two weeks prior to his death and this hastened his passing. He had been in poor health for some years-Deceased was born 12 Apr 1852 in Ohio being 78 years of age at the time of his death-lived a good share of his life in Jacksonport. Surviving are his wife and one daughter, Mrs. Sanford CLARK, both living at Jacksonport-Funeral services were held at 10 o'clock Tuesday morning from the M.E. Church in Sturgeon Bay, Rev. O. C. DITTES officiating. Interment was made in the Juddville cemetery-Among those from out of town present at the funeral were Mr. and Mrs. George Mapes, Minocqua, Wis., the former being a nephew of the deceased, Mrs. Harrison ROCKWELL, Algoma, Mr. and Mrs. Emil MAGLE, Clay Banks, and Mrs. Edith PERRY, Forestville.-OBITUARY contributed by Judy PHILLIPS (26 Aug 2010).
MAPES, Josephine (FITTSHUR*)/Mother/(17 Jul*)1858, (Door Co., WI*)-(26 Jun*)1957, (Country House, Sturgeon Bay, Door Co., WI*), ossw John and Leslie, picture of stone contributed by Judy PHILLIPS (26 Aug 2010); *Source: OBITUARY-Josephine (FITTSHUR) MAPES (17 Jul 1858-26 Jun 1957)COUNTY'S OLDEST NATIVE DEAD-Mrs. Josephine MAPES, Door County's oldest native born resident, died early Wednesday morning at the Country House-nearly 99 years old-A resident of Sturgeon Bay, she had been in ill health for eight years-She was born 17 Jul 1858-parents: Mr. and Mrs. Elroy FITTSHUR in Forestville-lived in Forestville until 1905 when she and her husband John, whom she married 28 Nov 1894, moved to Juddville-Mr. MAPES died 20 Sep 1930-Surviving are a daughter, Mrs. Sandord (Eva) CLARK, Sturgeon Bay; six grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren and three great great grandchildren-A brother (son) Leslie preceded her in death-Services held Saturday at the First Methodist church with the Rev. MAPES, Leslie/Son/(10 Sep*)1895, (Forestville, Door Co., WI*)-(Thurs. 17 Jul*)1913, (Gibraltar, Door Co., WI*), ossw John and Josephine, picture of stone contributed by Judy PHILLIPS (26 Aug 2010); *Source: OBITUARY-25 Jul 1913, Juddville, Door, WI: Leslie Dony MAPES (10 Sep 1895-17 Jul 1913)YOUTH DIES IN GIBRALTER- Leslie MAPES Passes Away at Age of Seventeen Years-Juddville-- Leslie, the only son of John MAPES, died at his home Thursday noon, 17 Jul 1913, after a long and severe illness from tuberculosis. He was born in Forestville, 10 Sep 1895, and spent his early childhood days there. At the age of ten years he removed to this place with his parents, and had spent most of his life here since-A year ago he became severely ill with tuberculosis of the bone in his right hip, which necessitated the amputation of his leg. Since then his health has been poorly, and gradually declined until death summoned him-He leaves a father, mother, and sister to mourn his untimely death, besides a large circle of relatives-was an honest, bright boy, with an upright Christian character. He was loved and respected by all who knew him and will always be missed in this community-The funeral was held Saturday forenoon from the Lutheran church, Rev. FJELDSGAARD officiating. His boyhood friends were pallbearers, and a large number of friends and relatives followed the remains to their rest in the Juddville Cemetary.-OBITUARY contributed by Judy PHILLIPS (26 Aug 2010).
