- Although located on the northwest corner of County M &
Newville Road in section 24 of Fulton
- Township, the school was officially Joint
School District #2 Milton/Fulton Townships. Locals
called it Oakdale School, and it was later known as
Mizo School
because the MIZO farm was across the road from the school. It
was in operation from 1845-1961. After it's closing it became
a private residence. Recently, due to mold, it was destroyed.
- Be sure to read several histories of Oakdale/Mizo
School, available here,
including an interesting
- recollection of the time gypsies came to the school. Also
see a 1982
letter written by teacher Anna Jean PLUMB.
