"The first school kept [in Milton Township] was a private school by Olive HALL (Mrs. James PIERCE) at the house of Henry B. CRANDALL, at Milton Junction, in the fall of 1839. The first distict school was taught by Enos DICKENSON in the house of Joseph GOODRICH at Milton, in 1839-40." [Source: The Milton Journal, May 12, 1902]
