MY TRIP ABROAD 1929

This sheet is in the back of the book and it is here where I believe my Grandmother recorded those folks that she visited and what she knew of the family at the time. There is a great mystery here in that there are no entries for MaryAnn, and under John it states "lost in Dahomey" Can anyone shed any light on the meaning of that??? Also could it be in 1929 those names that have a parenthesis around them are deceased?
