Baraboo:Charles Secker, brick-maker, Baraboo; yard is located three miles from Baraboo; he commenced this business about 1855; his was the third kiln that was burned in the county. He was born in England Oct. 25, 1837, and came to America about 1851 with his parents; his father, John Secker, is still living, at the advanced age of 89, and he makes his home with his son. Charles Secker enlisted August, 1862, in Co. F, 23d W.V.I., and served three years. He was married, Aug. 17, 1865, to Miss Almena Morehead, who was born in Pennsylvania; they have four children - John T., Amenla C., Nellie E. and Carl M. Both he and his wife are members of the M.E. Church. In politics, he is a Republican.
