Baraboo:

C. A. Swineford, Division Superintendent of the C. & N. W. R. R.; born in Ashland, Ashland Co., Ohio, July 20, 1840; came to Wisconsin in August 1863, and located at Fond du Lac, where he remained about a year. He was conductor for nine years on the Wisconsin Division of the C. & N. W. R. R; then went to Chicago, where he remained until coming to Baraboo, Jan. 1, 1874. Since February, 1874, he has held the position of Division Superintendent. He has been connected with the C. & N. W. R. R since 1863. Before coming to Wisconsin, Mr. S. had been connected with railroad work for about a year and a half.
