Spring Green:
David D. Davies, druggist and dealer in books and stationery, Spring Green, was born in Cardiganshire, South Wales, on the 30th of November, 1841. He came to this country in 1853, lived in Pennsylvania unil his coming to Wisconsin in 1856, arriving in Spring Green in August of that year, and has been almost a continual resident since. During the war of the rebellion, he enlisted at Madison Co. E. 49th W. V. I., as a private; was promoted Sergeant, then Second Lieutenant, and was honably discharged as such at the close of the war. In 1865, he engaged in his present business, and is always alive to every vital interest touching the prosperity of the villaage of Spring Green. Dec. 31, 1867, he married Miss Mattie E. Greene; they have three children. Mr. Davies has been Postmaster since 1865. Is Notary Public Treasurer of the Auxiliary Bible Society, and holds, and has filled, various other offices. He is a practical man, his habits industrious, and he has been active in aiding in the building of schools, the organization or churces and Sabbath schools; all of the latter institutions he has been prominently identified with for a number of years.
