Prairie du Sac:

John Commans, dealer in wines, liquors and cigars, Sauk City; was born in Prussia Jan. 28, 1828; in his native country be was a soldier in active service four years; he came to Wisconsin in 1854, and settled on a farm in the town of Prairie du Sac, Sauk Co.; in 1874, he moved to Sauk City and engaged in business. He married in Prussia Miss Johanna Heeg; they have had four children, only one of whom (Fred) is living. Mr. Commans has been Assessor for the town of Prairie du Sac four years, and has held various school offices.
