James E. Wallace, farmer, Sec. 26; P.O. Oaks; son of Nathan and Susanne (Gallup) Wallace; was born in Otsego Co., N.Y., Dec. 12, 1816. Was married, June 1, 1847, to Chloe M. Gregory, daughter of Uriah and Phila (Moffett) Gregory; she was born in Otsego Co., N.Y.; they have had five children - Ellen (deceased), Lydia (deceased), Mary E.(now Mrs. Samuel Bailey, of Woodland), Edwin G. and Emily L. In May, 1855, they came to Sauk Co., Wis., and settled on Sec. 26, Woodland; he has 135 acres of land; has served his school district as Treasurer. In politics, is a Democrat.
