HAZEL A. BARKHAUS, 92, of Bonduel passed away on Monday, March 11, 2013, at Shawano. She saw the angels when they came for her and she rode their wings to heaven.

Hazel was born on December 11, 1920, to the late Julius and Edna (Krueger) Simon in the town of Angelica. In 1942 she was married to Louis Barkhaus at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Bonduel. He preceded her in death on June 13, 2000. Hazel was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church and a member of the Mission Circle.

She is survived by her children, Richard (Lynn) Barkhaus of Bonduel; Rodney (Nancy) Barkhaus of Bonduel; 10 grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren; 5 step-great grandchildren; 2 great-great grandchildren; a sister, Delores (Alfon) Westphal, Shawano; sisters-in-law, Iann Simon, Shawano; Doris Buchholz, Bonduel; Elaine Kohls, Texas; many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Louis; a son and daughter-in-law, Rodger (Janice) Barkhaus; a son Robert Barkhaus; 2 sisters; 2 brothers; 2 brothers-in-law.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, March 15, 2013, at 11:00 a.m. at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Bonduel with Rev. Mark Palmer officiating. Family and friends may call on Thursday at St. Paul Lutheran Church from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and Friday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service. Interment will be held at St. Paul Cemetery. Zastrow Funeral Home is assisting the family.

Hazel's family would like to thank the staff at Meadowview in Bonduel for the wonderful care given to Hazel over the past several years. She truly thought of Meadowview as her home and the girls as her extended family. You are a very special group of people. May God bless all of you.
