Mr. Hyde

Shawano County Journal

Friday, 25 Feb 1881

A terrible accident took place at L. O. Rumery's logging camp, about 40 miles north of this city, last Monday afternoon. A young man named HYDE, driving a horse team, while taking a load to the landing, got down from the load onto the roller of the sleigh to touch up one of the horses, and in climbing back he slipped and fell under the load, the sled passing over him, breaking bones and otherwise mangling his breast and head terribly. He was immediately brought down to the Wescott House in this city for surgical treatment, but his injuries were such that he died about 12:00 Monday night. His remains were taken Tuesday morning to Delhi, Winnebago county, where he leaves a wife and 2 children. He was conscious to the moment of his death, and gave directions for the disposition of his property, messages to his wife and children.
