This recipe is from my great grandmother's cookbook (handed down to her granddaughter, Phyllis Dorothy Wilson Purdy, who has handed it to me. My great grandmother is Jennie Mae Halstead Colby.
Beat 1 egg add 1 cup white sugar, beat. 1 cup sweet milk without stirring. Then sift in 1 pt pastry flour to which has been added 3 teaspoons Baking Powder 1 level teaspoon salt 1/2 teaspoon nutmeg grated Add 2 or 3 tbsp of melted lard Add quickly enough flour to form a firm but soft-dough Roll 1/2 in thick
