This recipe is from my great grandmother's cookbook (handed down to her granddaughter, Phyllis Dorothy Wilson Purdy, who has handed it to me. My great grandmother is Jennie Mae Halstead Colby.
Stir sliced peaches into a butter made of 1/3 cup of sugar, 3 tablespoons of melted butter, 1 beaten egg, 1 cup of milk, 1 pint of flour, 1 1/3 teaspoons of baking powder. Bake in a loaf. Serve with a hard sauce. Is nice with fruit or berries instead of peaches. Hard Sauce Beat together 1 cup of sugar, 1/2 cup of butter, flavor to taste.
