George W. Burnell, lawyer; was born at St. Albans, Vt., Dec. 19, 1839; he attended the New Hampton Institute at Fairfax, Vt., and graduated from the Albany Law School, in 1861; commenced practice at Highgate, Vt. In July, 1862, he enlisted in Co. F., 10th Vt. V.I.; was sergeant of that company, and was promoted to Second Lieutenant of Co. C, of the same regiment, in January, 1863. In January, 1864, he was made Captain of Co. C, 19th U.S. Colored Troops; he left the army at the close of the war, and in May, 1865, he came to Oshkosh, where he has since been engaged in the practice of his profession. He has been District Attorney for three years; now holds that office; Commodore of the Oshkosh Yacht Club three years. Mr. Burnell was married near Fishkill Landing, N.Y., in January, 1864, to Carrie S. Morgan, a native of Fairfax, Vt.
