Millions of Wisconsin

MAK is a Descendent of: Warner Afflick MILLION m Josephine Marilla SARDESON and Descendent of: Phebe MILLION m William M PORTER, two different lines of William MILLION of England. This happened as a result of the marriage of James Crawford MILLION to his third cousin Edith Mae PORTER. They were both directly descended from Benjamin "Daniel" & Susannah (unknown) MILLION which were 5th greatgrandparents on both the PORTER and MILLION lines.

Crawford MILLION line:

Crawford MILLION was my 3rd greatgrandfather of the MILLION side of the family. He was born in 1808 in Madison City, Madison Co, KY to Daniel A MILLION and Barbery ALLISON.

Crawford left KY prior to 1927, as that was the year he arrived in LaFayette County, WI. (The History of LaFayette County, p 438) He married Charlotte NOWLAND in 1838 at Clarno, Monroe Twnshp, Green Co, WI. Charlotte (b 1816 MO) and her family migrated from MO to WI about this same timeframe.

Crawford and Charlotte had nine children, which were all born in WI. They were: John Daniel MILLION b 1839, Leucinda MILLION b 1841, Alfred Nowland MILLION b Jan 21, 1842, William C MILLION b 1835, Washington 'George' MILLION b 1852, Warner Afflick MILLION (my greatgreat grandfather) b 1852, Minerva MILLION, b 1854, Benjamin "Bennett" MILLION b 1856, and Anna MILLION b 1857.

In 1847, Crawford sat on the first petit jury. With him was William PORTER. (The History of LaFayette County, p 444). This is interesting as William PORTER is also my 3rd greatgrandfather. William was married to Phebe MILLION daughter of Benjamin and Kesiah MILLION (the first cousin of Crawford MILLION). William and Phebe MILLION's son Andrew Ross PORTER would marry Sarah Rebecca FULP and have a daughter Edith Mae PORTER who would marry Crawford MILLION's grandson, James Crawford MILLION (which was her third cousin).

After Crawford's first wife, Charlotte died Dec 03, 1857, he married her sister Lucinda NOWLAND HARRIS after 1857. No children have been accredited to their marriage.

Crawford's son Benjamin was known as Bennett. On June 15, 1832, Bennett became infamous during the Black Hawk Wars, as he was one of two men who survived the Indian masacre and was able to warn the settlement at Fort Hamilton. In 1847, he sat on the first grand jury. (The History of LaFayette County, p 473, 482)

His son William C MILLION, who was living in Argyle, Wisconsin , enlisted 19 April 1861 to fight with the 3rd Wisconsin Infantry Company I in the Civil War.

Another son, Warner Afflick MILLION was my 2nd greatgrandfather who married Oct 11, 1874 in Arglye, LaFayette Co, WI to Josephine Marilla SARDESON. They had five children, of which their son James Crawford MILLION was my greatgrandfather who married Edith Mae PORTER (his third cousin).

Some of theses MILLIONs are buried in Old Argyle Cemetery, Argyle, Argyle Twnshp, Layayette Co, WI and some are buried in Graceland Cemetery, Blanchardville, Blanchard Twnshp, Lafayette CO, WI.

Benjamin MILLION line:

Benajmin MILLION was my 4th greatgrandfather on the PORTER side of the family. He was born in Apr 26, 1785 to Benjamin 'Daniel' MILLION and Susannah unknown.

Benjamin was married Mar 13, 1809 in Adair Co, KY to Kesiah (ELLISON) MILLION.

They left KY prior to 1828, as that was the year they came to Wiota, LaFayette County, WI, where they began to break up ground for farms and by 1830 were prosperous farmers. (The History of LaFayette County, p 444)

They had at least seven children. Their first three children were born in KY: Bennet T b 1812, Phebe b Aug 04, 1818, Sarah b 1824. Their last three children were born in WI: Jackson b Jun 17, 1828, Elmira B b 1829, Patsey b abt 1836, and Marsha b bef 1841. Keziah died Sep 19, 1868. Benjamin died Dec 18, 1877.

Phebe MILLION, their daughter was my 3rd greatgrandmother on the PORTER side of the family. She married William PORTER, and they had eleven children, of which, Andrew Ross PORTER, was my 2nd greatgrandfather.

Andrew Ross PORTER married Sarah Rebecca FULP and their daughter Edith Mae PORTER was my greatgrandmother who married James Crawford MILLION (her third cousin).

Some of the MILLIONs are buried in the Hoffman Cemetery, South Wayne Township, LaFayette Co, WI. Others are buried in Pinney Cemetery, South Wayne, Lafayette Co, WI.
