MILLION SURNAME ORIGIN
MILLION - (FRENCH) Many family names indicate the use to which the particular field
is put. A millet field in France is Millard and Million, the former also being
English for a miller. Dweller at or near a small field of millet, descendant of
little Milo, (soldier) or little Emile (industrious). SOURCE:
Elsdon, Coles Smith, American Surnames, (1969, Chilton Book Co).
MAK NOTES:
My mother was MavisAnn DesBOUILLON. Her mother was Faye Emalang MILLION, her
grandfather was James Crawford MILLION, her great grandfather was Warner Afflick MILLION, and
her greatgreat grandfather was Crawford MILLION. They were all from Argyle, Argyle Twnshp, Lafayette Co, WI.
Crawford MILLION was born in Madison City, Madison Co, KY, but left KY sometime prior to 1838 for WI. All the
MILLION's in this area are related to the Crawford clan.
My mother never knew her maternal grandparents, as her grandmother died in 1908 prior to her birth,
and her grandfather left for California shortly thereafter.
Come with me and take a journey back into history. Help me discover my MAK-roots, and how they shaped the person I am
today... If perchance, we are related, click on Email MAK and let me know... I will be happy to include your line and
share information on mine.
